Tournament Rules

Entry Fee per boat is $200 per boat, non-refundable. This is an all-weather tournament. Based upon the number of entries – The top five teams will win cash prizes. Date of Tournament - September 10th 2022

Starting Time: 7:00 AM - No fishing before 7 a.m. Boats are permitted to be out on the lake looking for fish before 7 a.m., but no lines in the water until starting time - 7:00 AM. Weigh-ins are between 2:00 and 2:30 by a tournament official at the Lake Fish Company, Inc.

This is a Lake Erie Yellow Perch tournament. All fish being weighed in must be Lake Erie Yellow Perch.

All fish must be caught in Western Basin in Lake Erie in American waters. The western basin is defined as west of the Vermillion River. All fish submitted will be caught only on the day of the perch tournament.

Up to but not to exceed 4 fishermen per boat.

All fishermen are required to have a valid Ohio fishing license and must abide by all Ohio Department Of Natural Resources and Watercraft rules.

All Fish must be checked and weighed in at Lake Fish Company, Inc. 1014 West Water Street Sandusky between 2:00 and 2:30 to a tournament official.

Fish must be on time, or a 1 lb per minute deduction penalty will be enforced until 2:45. No fish will be accepted and/or weighed after the 2:45 deadline. No exceptions!

Only your team's best 40 fish will be accepted at the official weigh in. A 1 lb deduction penalty will be enforced for every fish over 40 included in your weigh in bucket. All fish will be counted at the door by a tournament official. The remaining fish caught can be taken to the cleaning house but must be separate from your boats 40 biggest perch for weigh-in.

Participants MUST be wearing their wrist bands from the tournament packet before qualifying your fish for the weigh-ins. You or any member of your team may not submit fish without the wristband. Any participant not following this rule will immediately be disqualified.

All bait, lures, fishing gear, etc. is the responsibility of the fisherman/team.

The largest perch (in length) will be awarded a prize. The total length measurement of the fish will be taken by a tournament official.

Your top 40 perch submitted for weigh–in will be kept by the tournament for the following year’s Chuck Teagarden Classic Perch Derby tournament cookout and awards ceremony. We will accept more than your top 40 fish if you desire to donate them back to next year’s party.

Anyone joining the cookout and awards MUST be wearing their wrist bands from the tournament packet before entering the shelter area. All members of your team and any guests MUST be wearing the wrist band before entering the party tent area. Any participant not following this rule will immediately be asked to leave. Additional wrist bands will be on sale at the Captain's Meeting on September 7 for $20 or at the party tent for $30. The cookout and awards will be held at the American Legion Post 83 starting at approximately 4:00 pm.

Weather - If the tournament committee determines that, due to inclement weather and for the safety of all boaters that the tournament should be canceled, the following protocol will be followed:
1.) A group text will be sent out to all registered captains.
2.) The after party will still take place!
3.) All registered teams will be eligible for all prizes as we will have a drawing for prizes that would have been awarded had the tournament taken place.
This tournament is a charity event as well as honoring a man we all respected; Chuck Teagarden. All rules will be on a gentlemen’s agreement basis. The time and location which you choose to fish is up to your team but, should be based upon the times and location stated above. Let’s all have fun and support our community!
